Furniture and lighting for properties that can’t afford downtime

We’ve spent 20 years learning that contract furniture isn’t just furniture. It’s drawings, timing, freight and brand compliance, delivered as one package.

Our Story

Why we exist

Most furniture suppliers are built for retail.

Hospitality runs differently. Renovation windows are measured in days, brand standards are non-negotiable, and a late shipment doesn’t just delay a project; it delays a property opening.

Maren Ashby spent eight years opening hotels and kept losing weeks to the same gap: the people who drew the furniture, the people who built it and the people who delivered it worked to three different schedules.

Tobias Okafor ran a workshop that could build anything except a calendar. They started Furn in 2006 so that drawing, making, lighting and installing run on one schedule, owned by one project lead from the first spec review to the last chair on site.

What we believe

Four things we won’t compromise on

Four things we won’t compromise on

Contract work only

We don’t split attention between retail and contract. Every piece we build is specified for commercial use, and every person here knows what a PIP is.

Quality is checked before it ships

Every order is inspected before it leaves the plant, not after a guest finds the problem. A failed piece costs us a day; a failed room costs you a night.

We make what we sell

Case goods, upholstery, metalwork and lighting are made under one roof in High Point. When something needs fixing, we can walk across the floor and fix it.

One person owns your project

One project lead from quote to installation, with no hand-offs between departments. If you have to explain your project twice, we’ve failed.

The plant

Everything under one roof in High Point

Our 210,000 sq ft plant has a mill room, a finishing line with four booths, an upholstery floor, a metal and lighting shop and a 40,000 sq ft warehouse for finished goods. Designers can see mock-ups here or at our sample studio in New York.

Our project leads come from hospitality design and procurement backgrounds, which means when your GC asks about lead times or your designer asks about COM minimums, you’re talking to someone who already knows the answer.
