The designer’s problem

Specs don’t always survive manufacturing. Yours will.

Material substitutions, dimension drift, finish mismatches: most of what goes wrong on a furniture order happens because no one approved a physical sample before mass production.

We build a mock-up or prototype for every custom order, so what you approve is what gets manufactured at scale.

How we work with designers

Built to the drawing, not around it

COM programs

Send your own fabric, leather or material. We build to spec, with minimums and lead-time impact documented up front.

Shop drawings before production

Every custom piece gets a shop drawing for your sign-off before manufacturing begins. Back in 10 working days.

Lighting from the same shop

Fixtures finished alongside the furniture, so the brass on the sconce matches the brass on the vanity pull.

Finish and material library

Specify from our 120 standard finishes or submit your own. We match to a physical sample, not a photo.

Approval process

How a custom order moves from drawing to delivery

How a custom order moves from drawing to delivery

Shop drawing approval → physical mock-up or finish sample approval → production → pre-shipment quality inspection → delivery. You sign off at every stage that matters, and at none that don’t.

Most designers hear back on feasibility within 2 business days.

Built as drawn

We’d been told our cane nightstand couldn’t be done at that price. Furn sent us a shop drawing that solved the joint we were worried about and built a mock-up in three weeks. What arrived in Charleston is exactly what we drew.

Questions designers ask

Questions designers ask

Will you value-engineer my design?

Only if you ask. If a detail adds cost or risk, we’ll show you the option on the shop drawing with the price difference, and you decide.

What are your COM minimums?

15 yards for a sofa, 8 for a banquette per 10 feet, 3 for a lounge chair. We test every COM for abrasion and flammability and tell you within 5 days if it won’t pass.

Can I visit the plant or see a mock-up in person?

Yes. Mock-ups can be seen at the plant in High Point or shipped to our New York sample studio.

Do you provide CAD and BIM?

Every catalog piece has DWG and RFA files in Trade & Resources, and we send CAD for custom pieces with the approved shop drawing.

Do you work with our purchasing agent?

Most of our projects run that way. You approve design; they place the order; one project lead keeps both of you on the same schedule.

Send the drawing

PDF, DWG or a sketch on a napkin. We’ll come back on feasibility in 2 business days.
